4A good roof rack, but it should have been standard
By AF Pilot
The crossbars and roof rails are great, but Honda should have built the Odyssey with these as standard equipment. We had ours installed at the dealer, so I can't speak to the installation. The rails have a capacity of 165 lbs which is plenty to hold a roof box when you're taking a long trip and the interior is full. They also add a sportier look to the van. The crossbars are in a fixed position and do not slide (like they do on my 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee). They're solid construction and fit tight. Overall I'm happy with them.

Pros - Looks great, 165 lb capacity.

Cons - Should have come standard, fixed vs sliding crossbars.

4Crossbars are a tight fit
By Steve Roy
It took me about 2.5 hours to install the rails and crossbars - well worth the savings. Installing the crossbars involves positioning them BETWEEN the rails and on my Odyssey, the crossbars were a little less than a half inch too wide. It took considerable force to bow the crossbar and wedge it between the rails, and on my first attempt I overshot the rail and the crossbar went underneath, down to the roof. I'm glad I laid down towels on my roof or I might have scratched it. I positioned a little piece of wood below the crossbar to prevent it from going all the way down on the second attempt and that worked.

Also, one of the 8 bolts refused to thread properly into the rail and I could never get it 100% tightened down - I managed to make it 90% of the way before destroying the torx head and it is still extremely tight. Once installed, the rails are rock solid. The video guides on YouTube are a huge help.
